Wondering where to begin? Follow these steps to get started on the countertops or stone project of your dreams.
Step One: Find your style
- Select a material
At American Marble & Granite we want to simplify the selection process so we stock the largest variety of granites in SW Washington. In addition to our own stock, we purchase material from all the stone wholesalers in Portland and Seattle.
{ Natural Stone }
{ Quartz }
{ Recycled }
Looking for quartz? We fabricate all of the major quartz slab products sold in the U.S. Stop by our showroom to browse samples of natural stone and quartz
If you have a smaller project such as a vanity or fireplace hearth, we have a large, well-organized selection of remnants that can save you money.
Select an edge { View Edge Options }
At our showroom we can show you an array of edges for your project. From simple to ornate we will be happy to help you find an edge treatment that is perfect for you. Our edge profile page will get you started by seeing some of our more popular edges.
Select a sink { View Sink Options }
Whether you have your own sink or you would like to purchase one of our sinks, we’ll need your sink at field measure to assure accuracy and punctuality at the time of the install. Our sinks are high quality, comparable to the finest sinks on the market and available at unbeatable prices.
Select a back splash
We can fabricate backsplash to match your counters at either a pre-determined height or plan for full-height backsplash. Of course tile backsplash is also a very popular choice. Our knowledgeable staff will be happy to help you with ideas as you design your perfect project.
Step Two: Get a quote
We will need cabinet dimensions to give you the most accurate quote. You can fax, email, or bring to our showroom a drawing of your cabinets. If new cabinets are being installed, your builder or cabinet maker can also provide us with the appropriate drawing. Or, we can also schedule a time for someone from our office to come out and pull the rough dimensions.
After we have your dimensions and design details (step one) together, we’ll be able to provide you with an itemized proposal for your project. We can also break down areas of the bid to help you stick within your budget.
Step Three: Sign Contract
Once all decisions have been finalized and pricing has been approved, a down payment of 50% of the contract total is required.
Step Four: Schedule Field Measure
We will schedule our field measure either once your new cabinets are completely installed, or we can measure with your existing counters in place if you are re-using your existing cabinets.
We use a unique digital measuring process which creates a very accurate computer file of your project. At the time of the measure, the digitized files are uploaded to a laptop computer and edited on-site which allows us to review details with the customer. If you have selected a unique stone with lots of movement and colors we have an exclusive digital layout process that can be completed with you either at our office or via email. { Learn more about our Digital Measuring Process }
Step Five: Installation
On the day of installation there are a few things to know and prepare as follows:
- Ranges must be moved from the installation area.
Any pre-installation plumbing (disconnection of drains, faucets, etc.) must be ready.
Some dust and debris may be present during installation so drawers and cupboards should be covered or emptied.
Any final decisions regarding number and placement of faucet holes must be made.
Pets need to be contained.
Our installation team will provide drop cloths as needed for floors. Upon completion, the job site will be broom clean. After installation final payment is due.
